AERO McGill is a design team under McGill University that specialize in the conception and construction of aerial vehicles, such as fixed wing aircraft, drones. Composed of several sub-teams, AERO travel to various competition series such as SAE Aero East and Unmanned Systems Canada representing the university. The primary focus for the team is to help students cultivate their interests in Aerospace, and provide them with hands-on opportunities.

Part of McGill Robotics, Robohacks is an annual hackathon that is associated with MLH (Major League Hacking) . According to their website, Robohacks is an environment create to “Spark learning, innovation, and a whole load of fun.” They also encourage both experts and complete beginners to participate in the hackathon. In 2018, the Robohacks competition will be happening from March 24 to 25.

The McGill Formula Electric Racing Team is another design team at McGill with the focus of creating cars that resemble those from the Formula 1 series, and then racing them at competition. Racing Formula 1 cars combined with a focus on engineering these vehicles is a perfect combination for anyone interested in fields such as the automotive industry, chemical industry, and the electric/computer industry.

The McGill Students Flying Club is one of Canada’s largest student run aviation organizations. As the name suggests, the Flying Club is an excellent place for aviation enthusiasts and hobbyists to visit. This organization provides students with flight-training and other activities related to aviation--they even have their own ground school! Some specific services they can provide include: RC flying, desktop flight simulations, and skydiving.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and AC Engineers (ASHRAE) Chapter at McGill is a student society that encourages interaction and involvement in the HVAC&R industry, a major industry in the field of mechanical engineering. HVAC&R is the industry in engineering related to air cooling and ventilation systems, usually indoor, with the goal of providing thermal comfort in the form of high indoor air quality. HVAC&R is an extremely interesting field with innovations being made everyday, like sensor-enhanced ventilation. REBOOT is an excellent program at McGill with the purpose of refurbishing and redistributing old computers and peripherals. They are also responsible for disposing of this waste in the appropriate manner. Another main priority of REBOOT is to donate usable, unwanted equipment around the city. If you are interested in computers and fixing old electronic systems, consider joining the REBOOT team.

The Chem-E Car design team was founded in 2013 and is an excellent opportunity for students with a passion for cars and chemistry. The goal of this team is to foster a community of like-minded students that come together and create a car that runs fully on chemical reactions. As the name suggests, the EPTS is an excellent resource for all engineering students at McGill to take advantage of. Students who need tutoring for specific subjects can approach the office and they will be paired with another engineering student who is comfortable with the material of the subject and can act a tutor to their peers. The EPTS is very helpful because it gives students who need help a tutor to guide them through subject material, and it can also provide valid teaching experience for students who act as tutors.
